Hector Payne

Hector is a 5* event rider with an exciting string of horses for the 2023 season

Hector began his equestrian pursuits in the Puckeridge Hunt Pony Club, competing in all disciplines, before focusing largely on eventing. Amongst the notable results early in his career is a 3rd place in the U25 British Championships at Bramham in 2014. Hector has been based and trained with a number of top riders, including spending time at the Billy Stud with Pippa and William Funnell, three years with William Fox-Pitt, and most recently a year with Ian and Heidi Woodhead of DHI Event Horses. He competed in his first 5* with his top horse Dynasty at Burghley in 2018 and they have since competed at Badminton and Pau, culminating 2022 with a podium finish at Pau in October.

Hector set up on his own at the end of 2017 at a beautiful yard on the Hampshire-Wiltshire border. The yard comprises of 22 stables and fantastic facilities to train his evolving string of event horses.

We are delighted to have such a talented and dedicated rider joining the Burlybed Team. 2023 is set to be an exciting season, with a string of horses ranging from 5 year olds to 5* level horses to compete and the main aim for the first part of the season being competitive result at Badminton 5*.
